I didn't set out to be a brand photographer.

I set out to stop being invisible.

For 20 years, I worked in sales and marketing - brilliant at making other people visible, then I launched my own business and was terrible at doing it for myself. I knew what I was capable of. But no one else did.

When I started my own business, I realised how hard visibility actually was. And how many of us were absolutely rubbish at it.

We'd left corporate. Built something brilliant. But we were still hiding behind Canva graphics, stock photos, and the occasional selfie taken in good lighting.

And it was costing us.

Lost opportunities. Smaller networks. Clients who didn't know we existed. A constant feeling of being the best-kept secret in our industry.

I realised: visibility isn't vanity. It's survival.

It's how you get known. How you get remembered. How you stop being overlooked for opportunities you're more than qualified for.

And it's not just about showing up - it's about showing up as yourself, unapologetically, strategically, and consistently.

That's what I help women do now.

I combine 20 years of sales and marketing experience with personal branding photography and visibility coaching to help expert female founders — especially those who've left corporate — get clear on what they want to be known for, and then build the visibility that makes it happen.

I'm also Co-Founder of the Makers & Shapers Awards and Podcast and Singapore Ambassador for The Athena Network — because visibility isn't just about having great photos. It's about being connected to the right people, championed by your community, and recognised for the work that deserves it.

A little more about me!

I'm Rebecca Downie, a brand photographer and visibility coach in Singapore.

I help ex-corporate women — the ones who've left their C-suite titles behind and are now building businesses on their own terms — step into visibility with clarity, confidence, and a bloody good set of photos that actually get used.

I combine 20 years of sales and marketing experience with strategic brand photography and visibility coaching to help expert female founders get clear on what they want to be known for, and then build the visibility that makes it happen.

FROM CORPORATE TO CREATIVE ENTREPRENEUR

I'm a Brit living in Singapore, mum to two brilliant kids, and someone who's built a business that lights me up without sacrificing family time.

After my second child was born, I knew I wanted flexibility - but not at the expense of ambition. I wanted to be present for school drop-offs and pick-ups, but I also craved work that felt meaningful, creative, and deeply aligned with who I am.

That's how Rebecca Downie Photography came to life. And over the years, it's evolved into something far bigger: a space where ex-corporate women can shed the “cloak” of their old identity and step into visibility as the founder, expert, and leader they truly are.

WHY I DO WHAT I DO

I've always been driven by a desire to make a difference. These days, I channel that energy into supporting women in business — helping them step into visibility, own their authority, and build brands that reflect who they truly are.

That passion led me to launch The Athena Network here in Singapore and co-found Makers & Shapers, an awards platform for female founders. Both have become some of the most rewarding parts of my work and life.

I'm fuelled by people — but not just any people. The right people. My tribe. The ones who challenge, inspire, and cheer each other on.

I've learned that I need balance: the extroverted, high-energy side of me thrives in community, but I also need quiet, reflective time to recharge. (Thank you, Human Design, for that lightbulb moment.)

These days, you'll find me walking through MacRitchie Reservoir or the Botanic Gardens, recharging in nature, or sitting around a table with my closest friends — probably with a glass of wine in hand.

WHAT DRIVES ME

What I do now goes beyond photography. I help women step into visibility — not because it's easy, but because it matters.

I know what it's like to shed the identity your employer gave you and figure out how to be seen for who you really are.

That's why my work blends strategic brand photography with visibility coaching: because showing up isn't just about the photos. It's about knowing who you help, what you stand for, and how to show up in the right places with the right message at the right time.
