A Love Letter to the Women Who Still Don’t See Themselves

To the women who tell me,

“Rebecca, you did an amazing job — I can see the work is good… I just don’t like myself in the photos.”

I want you to know:

I see you.

I hear you.

And I have been you.

For years, I’ve left voice notes and quiet messages of reassurance. Gentle reminders that what you’re feeling is valid — and incredibly common. But today, I want to speak to you more boldly.

Because something powerful happens when we choose to look at ourselves with new eyes… even when it feels uncomfortable at first.

One of my recent clients felt deflated when she opened her gallery. Her first instinct was to shrink.

A few days later, after letting the emotions settle, she wrote to me:

“It was such a confidence-boosting experience working with you. Everyone has commented on how my energy and warmth come through in every photo.”

That shift didn’t happen because of angles or lighting or perfect styling.

It happened because she gave herself space.

She breathed.

She let trusted voices reflect her back to herself.

And slowly, she started to see what we all saw.

The truth is: society has trained us to mistrust our own image.

Our weight.

Our height.

Our skin.

Our hair.

Our style.

Our age.

We’ve been conditioned to assess ourselves before we allow ourselves to be ourselves.

So many women tell me they struggle to recognise their own beauty, their authority, their presence — even when it’s right there, glowing on the screen.

But my lens was never built to create a “perfect” version of you.

It was built to see the real you.

The you who leads.

The you with vision.

The you whose work genuinely makes people’s lives better.

The you who is here to do good, meaningful, necessary things.

This — truly — is the work of my life.

To walk this journey myself, and to walk it with you.

Because we need strong female voices now more than ever.

  • Online.
  • In offices.
  • In boardrooms.
  • In communities.
  • In politics.
  • In the rooms where decisions are made.

Now is not the time to play small, ladies.

As we move into 2026, if you need someone in your corner — someone who will hype you up and hold you accountable to the bigger mission you’re here for — I’m that woman.

Through my photography.

Through my community.

Through the spaces I lead.

And soon… through a new event created to celebrate and elevate extraordinary female founders who are ready to be truly seen.

Because your voice matters.

Your presence matters.

And how you show up — visually, energetically, strategically — shapes the world you are building.

If you’re ready to step into that with me, I’m here.

Always.

With love, Rebecca
